Shri K.S. RAMASUBBAN, IAS (Retd.)

Shri K.S. RAMASUBBAN is the former State Vigilance Commissioner of West Bengal. He is a Graduate in Physics, Post Graduate in English Literature and received his P.G. Diploma in Environmental Economics. He held field positions like SDO, CEO of a District Milk Union, and CEO of Town Planning & Development Authority and DM. Mr. Ramasubban’s first stint in Government of India was in Ministries of Food, Food Processing, Commerce and Urban Development (Water Supply and Sanitation). He also worked in a World Bank Programme in New Delhi in the Water Supply and Sanitation Sector with a focus on urban sector. Back in the State, he worked in the Environment Sector for over five years as Member Secretary of State Pollution Control Board and later as Environment Secretary. He is Familiar with Urban Environment Management issues. Mr. Ramasubban’s second stint in Government of India was in the Ministries of Home Affairs and Water Resources as Joint Secretary, Member in National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and as Secretary, Central Vigilance Commission. He participated in National and International Seminars on Water Supply, Sanitation and Environment-related matters and presented papers. Mr. Ramasubban has authored many articles on water resources and environmental issues. He has been nominated as Government Expert on United Nations Convention against Corruption. He is the Chairman of Committee appointed by Ministry of Coal for auction of Coal mines.
