Centre For Excellence- Women Empowerment Program

The Department of Information Technology Government of Tamil Nadu together with the ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu organised an industry-institution interaction event called BRIDGE on March 28, 2022, at Hotel Sahana Castle, Nagercoil. Thiru T. Mano Thangaraj, Honourable Minister for Information Technology, Government of Tamil Nadu, and Thiru. M. Aravind, IAS, District Collector, Kanayakumari, presided over the event. Also various industry people and institutional members participated in this event. The Honourable Minister announced that they would provide free training for young graduates who have acquired skills through the benefits of information and communication technology. On behalf of all faculty members and students, Dr. T. Kannan, Academic Director, Amrita Institutions, received the "Centre for Excellence-Women Empowerment Program" Confirmation Letter from Thiru. T. Mano Thangaraj, Honorable Minister for Information Technology, Government of Tamil Nadu. Other dignitaries on the dais were Mr. R. Hari Balachandran, Chief Executive Officer, ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu and Mrs. Angelyn Jayasheelan, Associate Director-HR, DXC Technology, articulated their heartiest congratulations. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India provides grants to well established women empowerment centre in educational institutions across the country. Amrita College of Engineering and Technology, Nagercoil, received a grant for their "Centre for Excellence-Women Empowerment Program", which was established in association with ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu and DXC Technology as a CSR initiative. Under this Women Empowerment program, Fifty-three final-year female students successfully completed their soft skills training in advanced C# and DotNet, which are the foundational skills required for getting placed in IT jobs. Dr. T. Kannan, Academic Director, Amrita Institutions, Nagercoil expressed his heartiest congratulations to the project coordinator Mrs. S.L. Jothilakshmi, Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and the faculty mentor Mrs. Sarika A S, Assistant Professor of Electronics and Communication Engineering for their contribution and he also commended Dr. V. Viswanath Shenoi, head of the department of CSE and Dr. S. V. Mahesh Kumar, head of the department of ECE for their moral support towards this success. Besides, he encouraged the final-year female students to successfully complete their studies and wished them success in their future careers. The Principal, Dr. R. Sambath Kumar, faculty members, and all students of Amrita College of Engineering and Technology, congratulated the entire Women Empowerment team.
